2015-16 Meeting Schedule

September 19Parents Round Table Discussion on Group Homes. This was our most attended meeting last season. A must attend event.

October 17ARC of NC, Using their Community Guide as a resource for housing, social activities, advocacy, and other subjects. A useful service for people who lost Targeted Case Management and need some help navigating the IDD services world.

November 21 – Holly Richard, President and CEO of Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities. The discussion will center around selecting a group home.

December 19, Residential Support Services. Rick Chappel will be discussing the services they offer from group homes and independent group living situations to supported apartment living. (this is a change in scheduling)

January 16, Client Assistance Program of NC DHHS, John Marens, Director. He will be sharing with us how to overcome obstacles in the services we are receiving for our loved ones with IDD. “A Bridge Over Barriers”

February 20, Employment, Day Programs, & more. A panel of providers discuss opportunities for our adults. David Ingram, Employment Supports Director, ASNC; Mary Madenspacher, Executive Director, Life Experiences; Gena Brown, HandMeUps Thrift Store; Kathryn Thill, Lindley College.

March 19, Special Needs Financial Planning, M. Sean Godwin, Special Care Planner will outline how to create a plan of economic security for the IDD community.

April 16, Alliance BHC – Innovations Waiver changes, Terry Ames, Alliance BHC.

May 21, Alliance BHC Housing Plan, Ann Oshel, Chief Community Relations Officer, Alliance BHC will be discussing the newly developed Alliance BHC long-term housing plan for adults with IDD.

 

Meetings are the third Saturday of the month from 9:30 to 11:00 AM.
